Yeek! I made it through the episode!

The prison stuff upset me just as much as I thought it would--I have to remember to watch prison stuff (if I have to watch prison stuff) on an empty stomach next time. Fortunately, the really upsetting part was pretty short. The part where Clark, as Lionel, gets beaten up. I can't even write any more about that scene. Erk. The scene where he triumphs over the evil man and incites a riot wasn't so bad, as long as I remember that it's an imaginary prison riot.

John Glover and Tom Welling were amazing. They each portrayed the other's character believably without going into a caricature. TW as Lionel discovering his powers with such amazement and joy, then transmuting it to evil glee, that was brilliant. And JG as Clark discovering his powerlessness, well, I'm getting nauseous again, but that was also brilliant.

Both men were just spectacular in their scenes with Annette O'Toole. JG radiated innocence in the scene with AOT in the prison, and TW getting the eyejaculation going while hugging his "mom" was actually pretty funny, though creepy. Oh, and the scene I was worried about, in which Lionel in Clark's body checks out Clark Junior, was mercifully brief. It still creeped me the fuck out, and I could've done without it. Really inappropriate.

Ack! Poor Chloe! And good on her, telling Clark he'd used up all his apologies. About damn time. Of course, the stupid writers will probably turn her into doormatChloe again in a few episodes.

Lana in the barn? You've been dis-missed! Go, Lionel-as-Clark! I found that scene tremendously satisfying. Also, in the scene where Lana has the nerve to go all self-fucking-righteous on Clark about keeping secrets, well, the word "BITCH!" did burst forth from my lips at that scene. Why do they write her so badly? *sigh* The Lana/Jason stuff I fast-forwarded through, so I'm not sure what's going on with the mystical tattoo shit.

Really, the Clark/Lex hug at the end could have been longer. But still, great scenes with Lex, Lionel and Clark, whichever one was there in whichever body. I'm so glad Lex was allowed to know what happened, even if he didn't know how it happened. Way to be an ass Clark. Anyway, every scene with Lex was riveting, as usual. I expect much Luthorcest-in-Clark's-body fic to be forthcoming. I won't read it, of course (eewww), but I know it will be there.

In short, the ep was so much better than I hoped, one of the better episodes. John Glover was great as always, and Tom Welling impressed the hell out of me. He wasnt' doing RedClark, he was actually portaying Lionel. Very well done.
