Tonight's Smallville
Apr. 27th, 2005 11:40 pmI enjoyed parts of the episode. Chloe was wonderful, especially that last line. Lois was no more annoying than usual (which is really fucking annoying, btw). TW did a great job.
I have started making Charlie Brown's teacher noises while Lana is onscreen. Then I make the test pattern noise for a while. It helps. I was astonished to find myself feeling a twinge of sympathy for the girl during the porch scene. Even while I was berating her and telling her that yes, the Clana is hopeless and she should just pack up and leave town with her newly evil boyfriend.
It's sad, but the thing that bothered me most about tonight's ep was Lex.
During the Lex scenes, I started thinking, 'MR is acting...badly. But MR is not a bad actor. He's a brilliant actor. WTF?' Then I realized that some stupid director had told MR to make it seem like Lex was a bad actor. So that we would know that he was lying to Clark and trying to manipulate him. So that it would be obvious to us stupid, stupid audience members that Lex is EVIL. EVIL, I say!
In my opinion, Lex could not have survived twenty-fours years with Lionel as his father without becoming a consummate actor. Stupid, stupid director.
