Does anyone know how to make the WinFixer 2005 popup go away? It just takes over my computer every once in a while.

I don't know that specific one, but have you run ad-aware over everything?

I've run adaware, spybot and the beta version of the new microsoft antispyware. Those three programs are supposed to get everything, but apparently not. This Winfixer 2005 thing is new. Usually, if you click on the X on a popup it goes away. With this one, if you click on the X it triggers the program and it just takes over the browser.

I ran a search on my hard drive and it found the program in my cookies. I've deleted it, but I guess it will probably grab onto my computer again.

I deleted all my cookies a few days ago, but that just caused problems with my saved logins. So I hope it works just to delete that one cookie.

Oh, no. Upon reading this, I did some research. This is a nasty, nasty thing. Most instructions how to get rid of it were in German, though, and it's very, very complicated :( I found something in English, perhaps this may help you: http://www.spyware-removal-guideline.com/winfixer-removal

Thanks, dk! I'm trying a new program called SpywareDetector that's supposed to be very good. WinFixer showed up on it's list of stuff to get rid of after the scan, so maybe this will do the trick.
