Chemotherapy sucks.

My sister is on her third round of chemo. The first one wasn't too bad, she lost her hair, had a little nausea, but that was about it. The second round was horrible. She was supposed to have three doses but she only had two because the side effects were so bad. She wound up with this awful skin problem that was like having second degree chemical burns all over her body--bleeding and all--even on her feet. She missed two weeks of work and had to be all covered in bandages for most of that time.

This third round didn't seem as bad, it has just made her tired. But today she found out that she has a pulmonary embolism and blood clots in her lungs, a new side-effect of the chemo. We don't know if it's a side-effect of the new chemo, or a leftover problem from that second stuff. Fuck, fuck fuck! Don't ever take Doxil.

There's this place in north Arkansas where they do this alternative cancer treatment. They take out your blood and super-oxygenate it, then put it back in you, along with a bunch of vitamin C. The theory being that cancer can't live in an environment rich in oxygen and vitamin C. I wonder if that works?

I wonder how long a person can keep doing this?
