There were three things that led to this video. First, I just happened to see Jesus Christ, Superstar on the Sundance channel a few months ago.

Second, I remembered a comment I read from one of the PTBs at Smallville. He said that one of differences between the Superman movies and Smallville is that in the movies, Superman is the real person and Clark Kent is a disguise he puts on, whereas in Smallville, Clark is the real person.

Third, I remembered the episode with the kid who could see how people would die when he touched them. When he touched Clark, all he saw was the Superman cape fluttering in the wind. Some people said that meant that Clark would never die because he's Superman. I thought, perhaps it means that Clark Kent has give up his life in order for Superman to live.

This video goes along with canon. I've used clips from Smallville and from the various Superman movies.

Thanks to my wonderful betas, mkitty_03, euphony_m and talitha78. Your comments, suggestions and support help me to be a better vidder. *hugs*

I hope you enjoy it!

Holy fuck--xcuse me for cursing--that's the most intense vid I've ever seen. That's the best Superman vid I've ever seen, I think it just might be the best SV vid ever. I was sobbing like a baby by the end. It's AMAZING, it moves to the music (brilliant brilliant choice) seamlessly, the clips you chose were outstanding and using Chris Reeves was a stroke of genius, because I think in all SV fans minds, they have a connection that goes beyond both playing the same character. I'm babbling but I don't think I've ever ben eso moved by a vid ever. Chilling! *HUGS YOU*
God--I know such brilliant people--I'm such a lucky bitch!

The video was great! An awesome job!
I love the song; it's perfect for the vid. I'd have preferred the version by Ted Neely, but nevertheless it goes perfectly with the clips you chose. The concept, the editing..., everything was just amazing!

Thanks Roxy for reccing it and thanks capnzebbie for this outstanding, moving, superb video!

God, I've always loved how allegorical the Superman story is and you have completely captured it. So, so much love.

*HUGS* Wow!!! Thank you for the wonderful comments! *GGG* I'm so glad this touched you. I'm also glad you liked the use of CR--I used a little of the most recent movie, but for me, CR is still Superman.

Thank you! I appreciate the compliments! *ggg* One of my betas said she preferred the Ted Neely version as well, but this is the version I hear in my head, because we had this on vinyl when I was a kid, back before the movie had even been made. We listened to it over and over, so it's imprinted in my brain from long ago.

Wow, how powerful, you did such a great job, hon, and using all the Supes and Clarks.
Very sad too, but in a wonderfully done way.
Bravo!

*grumble* Something is wrong with my wmv player. The vid is choppy. *cries* I am going to try to find an update or something.

STILL...
I can tell it is so fucking awesome! So much character stuff going on. I am amazed by what you can do in five minutes using clips. You rock! I really love your commentary, too. I think this is the thing that most interests me about superhero stories: how do they do it without having mental collapse? This vid is so heart-rending. You can just feel the sacrifice and anguish.

What a great job! You keep on vidding, sister!

Quicktime update didn't help. *scratches head* Is this because I have a mac? I've watched your other vids okay, I think. Hm. I'll sleep on it. *g*

Again, great job with this. Your vids are so thoughtful and intelligent, yet at the same time, so enjoyable to watch.

Thank you, garry--I'm glad the emotional intensity I was going for came through for you, even with the messed up-ness.

And yeah, I'm going to keep vidding! I'm working on several right now. *G*

It might be because of the mac, I'm not sure. Did you dl the big one or the little one? Try the other one, it might work better. Are you able to save vids? I remember at one time you couldn't. I think they play better if you can save them, then play them, rather than playing while they download.

so thoughtful and intelligent, yet at the same time, so enjoyable Now see? That's the same description I would give your fic!~ *hugs*
