I really miss my computer
Jun. 29th, 2007 04:44 pmI'm able to keep up with email a little bit, but I miss LJ. I miss just hanging out here, reading posts and fics and watching videos. The computer repair person hasn't called yet, so I'm still waiting for my new hard drive to be delivered and installed. :(
Sister update
My sister is doing a little better after doing a lot worse for a while. Her CA125 started climbing again and she started having such severe abdominal pain that it was making her throw up all the time. Her doctor won't do another surgery unless she has a bowel obstruction. My niece persuaded her to go M D Anderson, which a cancer specialty hospital in Houston.
So my sister and my cousin headed off to Houston and stayed for about a week. They also said they wouldn't do surgery. Since she's had two, that's probably best, I guess.
The day before they left Houston, she met with the "Palliative Group." Finding this out was upsetting for me. It just seemed to me that meeting with the palliative group instead of the curative group meant they were just going to make her try to feel better without really making her better. But it was a good thing, because they were able to get her pain managed so that she isn't throwing up anymore.
They also came up with a new kind of chemotherapy for her to try. They determined that the problem is that she has a lot of little cancer seeds around her abdomen that are interfering with her digestion and causing pain. She's now doing this chemo called Avastin that attacks newly created blood supplies, like new capillaries, because when you get new little bits of cancer it has to have a new blood supply. I hope this does some good.
Me update
I like my new job. I'm still on the email list for my old department. Every time I get an email from them about mandatory overtime or sales quotas or whatever, it makes me happy to not be there. :)
I miss my computer!
