Well, I finally filled out the FAFSA application. I've been going to school since August, and I was really hoping to be able to make it through one semester without having to get a student loan, but it isn't going to happen. I saved up as much as I could after finding out that I was going to lose my job, but it just wasn't enough. Next year I should be able to get some financial aid that I don't have to pay back, but this year it's going to have be a student loan. ugh.

That sucks, but it seems you can't do without that in the US :(

I know. Going to a community college will save me a lot of money (and make me more employable at the end of it), but it's still expensive.

Just until next year, though, right?

There's a tuition assistance program in my state for people who have lost their jobs to go back to school so they can get into a different field. I lost my job to late to apply for this year, but next year, yes, I should be able to get some money that I don't have to pay back :)
