Smallville
Oct. 20th, 2004 08:49 pmI got off work early enough to see Smallville tonight without having to tape it. I'm so happy! my sister and I got to watch the show together for the first time since last season's finale. We enjoy watching the show together because we have lot's of stupid fun. :) We call ourselves the Smallville Ladies Choral Society and sing along with the theme song at the top of our voices. It goes something like this:
"Somebody SAAAAAVE ME! I don't know the rest of the words just SAAAAAVE ME!" And we do all the Ooooohs on various pitches that don't really exist in western music. Anyway, we enjoy it. :) I holler out rude comments about the HoYay and the BDA and about how certain characters make me crazy. The rest of the family just roll their eyes and laugh at us. And yes, we are grown women. Middle-aged, even. But really, watching Smallville with my sister was one of the highlights of my week all last year, and I've missed it this season.
No deep commentary on this episode. I just enjoyed it. It generally made me laugh and scream and beat on the table. I don't know if I'll comment on this one at the WB site. It was way too gay for me to avoid mentioning it. I was able to avoid The Gay last week (although I think I pulled something avoiding it). But this week? Can't do it. So, here's what I thought:
Bart, talking about Lex: "You can't get that rich from playing it straight."
Cracked. Me. Up.
I thought, "Okay, now they're just fucking with us."
This episode was even gayer than last week. I didn't think that was possible.
Loved all the Clark/Lex scenes and the smoldering stares between Clark and Lex AND between Clark and Bart.
"If you can catch me, I might stay." HOLY SHIT!
Kick-ass Lex makes me hot. That was a scene for screaming and applauding.
Loved the Bart/Chloe interaction. So funny.
It was great to see Martha and Jonathan being all cuddly.
I didn't hate the Lana/Jason scene in the cave. I'm disappointed that I didn't hate it. I feel like I've developed a character flaw.
The Lana/Martha scene? Should have been Lex and Martha. Lana should stay on her own separate show with Jason and leave the rest of the cast alone.
Also? I am completely freaked out by the scenes from next week. I'm not sure if I'll be able to stand it. I just keep thinking, "NOOOOO! It should be Lex, not Lionel! Eeewwww!
I'll just have to wait and see if I'm permanently damaged by it, I guess.

Date: 2004-10-24 07:31 am (UTC)Lionel is a bad, bad man. But highly entertaining as a villain. I remember reading a little backstage bit somewhere in which a director is rumored to have told JG that Lionel shouldn't look at his son as if he wants to fuck him. JG reportedly said, "Why not?" So, I'm thinking this subtextual incest dynamic might be something that JG and MR came up with themselves.
I know there's all kinds of Luthorcest fic out there. I can't read it. *shudder* Luthorcest, non-con, that sort thing ain't my thing. Give me clean, wholesome Clex sex, please. :)
