I discovered today that my co-workers are too young to have heard the old aspirin/birth control joke. :)

One of my co-workers is pregnant (again), and she said she can't use condoms or birth control because she has sensitive skin. I said, "Well, you could do what people did when I was younger and use aspirin for birth control." Of course, everyone looked at me like I was crazy.

"Aspirin!?!"

I said, "Yeah! You hold one between your knees."

Lord, they laughed for five solid minutes!

I guess that joke is so old it's new again. :D

It really was hilarious. They were laughing at this joke that was old before they were born, and I was laughing at the realization that keeping your knees together to avoid pregnancy is a completely new idea for them. *G*

I heard about aspirin birth control a few years back from a lady that worked for me...she was about 65 yrs old. Some of the younger women were talking about another co-worker who had 'come up' PG again...the older woman told them she should try the aspirin birth control method. We all just looked at her...confused. She then told us that it worked for her back in her younger years. One of the girls ask her how the hell an aspirin could keep you from getting PG and the older woman told her that you put one between your knees and hold on to it...don't let go no matter what. There was silence for a minute or two and then hysterical laughter :) Haven't thought about it in yrs...thanks for the reminder. Funny :)

LOL! That's the same reaction I got. That joke was old when I first heard it back in the '70s. :)
