Thanks to everyone for all the hugs, prayers and positive vibes. My sister appreciates them, too.

I went to see my sister in the hospital after work today. She's all drugged up and covered in various tubes, but she seems to be doing okay. The first thing she said was, "Hi." The second thing she said was, "You need to get checked."

I said, "That's exactly what I've been thinking about for the past forty-eight hours. Almost exclusively."

When I found out about this on Wednesday, I thought, "Oh shit." Then I thought, "Hey, I have ovaries, too." And then I felt like a jerk for making it all about me ME ME. But you go there, you know?

So I'll be calling my doctor (who is also my sister's doctor) on Monday to talk about getting myself checked.

The surgeon removed SEVEN LITERS of fluid from my sisters abdomen. I said, "Wow! That's like two of those three liter Cokes plus another liter," because I'm smart with math like that. Jesus, what a lot of fluid! She had gained some weight lately just in her abdomen, and she was talking about going to the doctor a couple of weeks ago for some suggestions on how to lose that weight. It turns out this was it. Not what any of us were expecting.

Thank you, dk. Things are looking up. She came home today, which seems really fast to me. I think she's doing well. And I've started the process of getting checked out myself.

I hope you're doing well too. *hugs*
