New computer!
Sep. 13th, 2005 10:12 pmI'm back online after having to be off for a few days. I got a new computer! I love it! I got this computer. It's very small, almost laptop size, but it has a 250 GB hard drive. Considering that my previous computer only had an 18 GB hard drive, this is quite an improvement. I also got a great monitor. It's a wide screen ultra-sharp digital flat panel. Since the main reason I got it was to do multimedia and especially video stuff, I really wanted a good monitor. And the speakers hook right onto the bottom of the monitor, so they won't fall off the back of my computer desk all the time like my old ones did. Yay!
I got a little choked up as I was closing down my old computer. It was almost like I was moving house. Very weird--I didn't realize I was so attached to it. We've been through a lot together. I knew where all my stuff was, you know? I'll kind of miss it, but I do love my new computer. :) It's very cool. Now if I could just figure out how to get all my stuff to load onto my new computer. I saved all my stuff onto my E drive and now I've put it on my new C drive, but I can't figure out how to get it to actually work. Like my Favorites. I have a file of favorites, and I can't figure out how to get it actually on my browser. So far, what I've done is click on the different faves in the file, and when I go to that website, I add it to the faves on my browser. There really should be a more efficient way. But still, love it!!!!
Besides the much larger hard drive, it also has the Windows XP Media Center on it, and a coaxial connection on the back! I can hook my cable up to it and use it as a dvr. It has a cd/dvd rw drive, so I can burn cds and dvds. My old computer didn't have that. It just had a cd-rom drive and a dvd-rom drive that I installed but only worked, like, once. The door just stopped opening for some reason.
So anyway, I love it! If it weren't all hard with sharp corners, I would hug it.
Weight update
I can definitely say now that losing a half a pound is better than gaining, since gain is what I did this past week. I was so discouraged after losing only a half a pound that I ate carbs this past week and gained four pounds. Phthhhh. But I'm still down nine and a half pounds. I've decided that I'm only going to weigh once a month instead of once a week. And it's time to start exercising.
And in conclusion, NEW COMPUTER!!!!! *G*

Date: 2005-09-13 10:21 pm (UTC)Whenever I get a new computer, I just plug in the old HDD and copy stuff. If you are using Internet Explorer (and why would anyone do that?!), your favourites are in documents and settings (I hope that's what it's called in English) -> your username -> favourites (or whatever the folder is called, sorry, my version is in German). They can be copied easily. Both Opera and Firefox (much, much better browsers) also have simple ways to import them.

Aww, sorry you were discouraged. The weight you gained is actually not the problem. I don't know if Atkins mentions this, but when you go low-carb, your hormones have the chance to go back to (relatively) normal. They can only do that if you stay low-carb for at least 2 - 2,5 months in a row. Otherwise, it might take years or so, and that makes weight loss slower and everything more frustrating. After the first 3 months, your body forgives mistakes more easily and doesn't respond with immediate weight gain.
Oh, by the way, exercising!!!! YAY! Good idea! And it's fun once you've gotten into it :D
*goes back to oatmeal* (Think of me as in phase 4 for life)
