Good for you!!! I'll be your cheerleader because I'm really rooting for you to do this without surgery. For health reasons, I really have to cut back on carbs, too, and I know how hard it is. I'm a vegetarian, so it's even more difficult. I can't eat any sugar. Bleah. It sucks!
Thank you for the cheerleading! It helps to know someone is pulling for me. That eleven pounds really is a drop in the bucket, so I'm in for a long haul. I already feel better and my blood sugar is lower, so I'm doing pretty well besides the weight loss. God! Eating no sugar is so hard, isn't it? Especially since I'd been treating like a food group for awhile there! *g* I certainly wish you all success with your efforts.
My coworkers who have had the surgery have lost so fast that I'm a little envious; then I remember what they've done to lose so fast and I get over it. One of them told me she threw up everything she ate or drank for three days because she got a few grains of rice caught in the hole between her stomach and intestine. She had to drink lemon juice and meat tenderizer to clean herself out. That was when I started to think, hmmm, maybe this isn't for me after all. I don't want to live that way.
YES! You're really doing it!! Good decision! May I ask you if you're following a plan or just doing your own thing? (Not that it makes a difference, I think)
I've heard that there are all those low-carb products in the US. Does it make things easier?
I've basically been following the Atkins induction diet since the 22nd. I like it because I know it really well and it brings on a little bit of very fast weight loss before settling in for the long grind. As of this Thursday it will have been two weeks and I can start adding a few carbs each day. I won't do that according to Atkins, though, because he doesn't let you have fruit for a long time, and I really miss fruit. I'm going to add strawberries and cantaloupe first because they're pretty low carb for fruit and that's what I've been missing the most.
Yes, all the low carb options in the stores help a lot. Of course, meats and vegetables are the same everywhere, but it's nice having several low carb snack and sweet options. Do you not have them in Germany? They'll get there within the next year, I bet. Hang in there!
Ah, ketosis. Many people in my forum swear by it. Strawberries are wonderful. I tend to eat them with whipped cream or even mascarpone :)
I guess I could order low carb food online (but I don't have a credit card..), but the stores are all about low-fat right now. They are even considering a "fat tax" in the UK and Germany.. which I think is pretty reckless since medical studies show that fat has practically no influence on weight gain.. carbs, however..
Oh, well. I think you rock! It's probably one size down in clothes already, right? Good luck & success!!
ps. Low carb food is just one thing we don't get. The other is Season 3 of Smallville, probably not until fall. :((
