job search
Jan. 28th, 2007 10:57 pmI must look for a job. I'm still working at the same place where I've been for the past six years, but it's been getting gradually worse for the past couple of years. It's time to see what else is out there, even if it only makes me appreciate what I have.
Here's my problem: I've never really had to look for a job. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions? I'm updating my resume--I just did that recently when I applied for a couple of positions at the place where I work now, so it doesn't need much updating. I'm planning on going to the state employment office, and to employment agencies that offer to look for fee paid positions. I'm also thinking about taking the civil service exam. I did that about twenty years ago and they offered me some interesting jobs at the time, so maybe I can get offered some interesting jobs again. I can't remember how that came about though. I can't remember how to sign up to take the exam, or whatever you have to do.
What else can I do? How does one look for a job?
