I'm having my three to four minutes of sitting now. Ahhh. I found out from my surgeon last week that I have at least three more weeks of this. I also found out what happens when I ride in a car after two weeks of no car. It was a nightmare of car sickness. By the time we got to the doctor's office I was miserable; by the time we got home I was throwing up. It didn't help that I had to lie down in the back of the van, and every time my dad put on the brakes I would slide up and whack my head on the back of the seat. It just keeps getting better and better!

Anyway, I now have Dramamine to go with all my other post op pharmaceuticals.

You don't really think about how important sitting is until you can't do it. At least, I didn't. I mean, I knew no computer games, no internet, no driving, stand up to eat, etc. But right now, I really need to cut my toenails. It's a good thing that I can't go anywhere right now, because I can't wear shoes because of my toenails. I used my three minutes of sitting time yesterday to cut two of them. I'll cut two more tomorrow. It'll take me, hmm, let's see, ten days to finish. Then it'll be time to start all over again.

Okay, done with the sitting time!

*hugs*

Hey, are you able to go to work? You just started new position...

Hm. Maybe you have a standing job like I do.

I hope you feel better soon! Just think of it this way: evolutionarily, we weren't really meant to sit. We were meant to stand and walk about.

:)

Right now, I'm supposed to go back to work around September 15, but that could be pushed back. I'm going to the doctor again on the 10th, and he'll let me know. I'm on FMLA (family and medical leave act) right now, and I'm getting paid through short term disability, which is great. I only get paid 60% of my usual wage, and I get no commission (of course; no sales). A lot of jobs don't have that sort of thing. And my job will be there when I get back. My bosses are being very cool and sympathetic.

I think that, evolutionarily, I was meant to be on the internet and to play video games. ;) I'm really having to fight my DNA!
