I'm feeling better now. I was pretty depressed for a few days this past week, and I'm not even sure why. Probably something chemical in my head. I have a tendency toward depression and I've taken antidepressants in the past. Nowadays, I control it with nutritional supplements and exercise. But I haven't really been taking the supplements since my surgery (the whole not wanting to put anything into my mouth thing), and I haven't been able to exercise much. So, when I started feeling all weepy and stayed in bed for almost 48 hours straight, I decided I better get back with the supplements and the exercise. So I'm feeling some better. Not as weepy, and I'm out of bed much more.
Purlie is doing very well. He still likes to hide a lot, but when we find him and bring him out into the world he's happy to see us. He's started purring, too. He didn't purr at all for the first few days he was with us. Just shivered a lot. He seems to be getting used to the idea that we are his family now.
I'm worried about my mom now. She had to go and have some scans done. Her oncologist thinks that her lymphoma has come back. She'll find out on Monday. If it has, she's going to have to do chemotherapy. Last time she did radiation therapy--that was maybe about three years ago.
She went to her regular doctor as well, who told her to stop taking this new medication she's been taking. It's called Forteo, and it's a new drug for osteoporosis. She's been taking it for a couple of weeks, and now she has a lump. I asked Mom if they didn't know that people with a history of lymphoma shouldn't take the stuff, and she said they don't know enough about it because it's so new.
Dear Medical Community,
Please don't experiment on my mom.
Thank you.
What's terrible is, I was feeling all depressed before I found out about this. We're all hanging in there, but I'm worried.
