capnzebbieI haven't posted in a long, long time, so here's part of what's going on right now.
I found out about a month ago that my job is moving to Memphis, TN. My whole department is moving there. I, however, am not moving to Memphis. So, as of last Tuesday, I am unemployed. The day I turned in the paperwork for my severance package, our HR director handed me a certificate thanking me for my ten years of dedicated service. The irony is delicious, no?
I'm strangely zen about the whole thing, optimistic even. I'm looking at this as an opportunity to take my life in a different direction. I've applied for unemployment, and I found out that I can get unemployment at the same time as I'm getting my severance checks since my severance checks only come every other week. I can get an unemployment check on the alternate weeks, which is pretty cool. Arkansas also has a tuition assistance program for displaced workers (that would be me), so I'm planning on going back to school starting in the fall.
While I'm waiting for school to start, I'm doing some things to get healthier--I'll post about that another time.
I've been working for the same company for ten years. I really never thought I would stay that long. I think this is a good kick in the butt to get me out of this rut. I'm looking forward to whatever is coming next!
